Walking Group PDF Print E-mail

The main walking group is run by Sally Cassini.

Our aim is to do a monthly walk of varying distances and terrain, fairly locally.

We also have a Short Walks subgroup coordinated by Josephine Wells.  If you are planning a short walk and would like some company, then contact Josephine who will pass on the details to others on the contact list.  Photos from Short Walks group.

To join either of the walking groups, please use the contact us form to register your interest. Please note sub-groups are for Camberley WI members only.

While we are happy to come up with details of walks, we would like members to help provide us with ideas and inspiration for walks. Please contact us with your ideas giving details and length of walks.

We will need to know how many of you want to walk each time so please email confirmation at least 48 hours beforehand.

In the event of bad weather a decision will be made the night before and an email sent out so please check your emails!

We will also let you know if the walk is suitable for dogs.

The following photos may whet your appetite to join in....

To celebrate the WI Centenary two WI members from London WIs set out to walk the Thames Path from its inception all the way to the Thames Barrier.  Fiona and Sally decided to join them for the day when they approached our area.   Here is Sally's report:

"Just to let you know that Fiona and I completed the section from Staines to Richmond (24 miles) in a record 6.5 hours!

We met up with the two members (Louise Checkley from N1 WI and her friend Anna from Stoke Newington WI) who had been walking along the whole of the Thames and would be completing it the following day, ending up at the Thames Barrier.  We were with them when the WI baton was passed to members of Middlesex who were going to take it down river on a boat where they were going to have a tea party in celebration.  Members of Middlesex and Surrey (specifically Staines, Laleham and Walton-on-Thames) WIs met up with us for lunch at a local hostelry.  They were so generous and insisted on buying us coffee (they wanted to buy us lunch too but Fiona and I had brought our own and thought a coffee was quite generous enough).

Fiona and I then kept up quite a pace along the beautiful path passing through scented cow parsley and seeing all the swans and cygnets and ducks with their ducklings along the way.  The day started with heavy rain and was very windy but by the afternoon it was glorious sunshine!"
